Tattoo Artist. Painter. Entrepreneur.

Hi, I’m Raphael – founder of HERZ TATTOO & ART and passionate artist with over a decade of experience in tattooing, fine art, and design.

​

My journey began in Germany, where I first explored visual expression through graffiti. That early passion led me to study Graphic and Communication Design and spend over 15 years working as a designer for well-known brands and agencies. During that time, I developed a strong sense for aesthetics, storytelling, and how to create meaningful visual experiences — skills that now flow directly into my tattoo and art work.

In 2013, I moved to Switzerland, and a year later I fully transitioned into tattooing. I merged my background in design and fine art with the precision and depth of tattooing — and quickly realized that this craft was my true calling.

Between 2015 and 2022, I founded and ran several successful tattoo studios in Switzerland. Each space was carefully designed to reflect quality, professionalism, and individuality. I handled everything from concept and branding to daily operations and client care.

The last and largest project — RAPHAEL 500 | TATTOO & BARBERSHOP — was located in Switzerland’s oldest train station! Restored and repurposed as a unique creative space.

After stepping away from the business in 2022, my wife Deborah and I spent a year in Mexico. That break gave me space to focus on painting, travel, and writing a comprehensive tattoo instruction book. In late 2024, we arrived in the U.S. and decided to put down roots — combining everything we’ve built so far into one new vision: HERZ Tattoo.

HERZ Tattoo is more than a studio — it’s a space where custom tattooing and contemporary art meet. Where stories are told through skin and canvas. Where people come not just for a tattoo, but for a focused, personal, and inspiring experience.

I work in a range of styles, but I’m especially drawn to realism, fineline, 3D, and lettering. I value clarity, atmosphere, and intention — both in the art and in the way I work with people.

When I’m not creating, you’ll find me outdoors with my Dutch Shepherd, a Skateboard, or simply reflecting and recharging in nature. That’s how I stay balanced — so I can bring focus and presence to every piece I create.
